01 — WHAT WE COLLECT
Overview
Half Price Deals aggregates half-price and discounted grocery and pharmacy deals from major Australian retailers. Built and maintained by Erron Labs. You don't need an account or any personal details to use it — this page explains what the app collects, who we work with, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
We don't collect your name, email address, or other directly identifying information. When you open the app, you're automatically signed in through Firebase Anonymous Authentication, which assigns your device a random, non-identifying id. That id is used only to sync your favourites, shopping lists, and notification/age-confirmation preferences to our servers so they persist across sessions — it isn't linked to your real-world identity.
App Usage Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate — which screens are viewed, which features are used — so we can fix problems and improve the app. This is tied to your anonymous device id, not your identity.
02 — THIRD PARTIES WE WORK WITH
Who We Share Data With
We work with a small number of third-party services to run Half Price Deals. We don't use any service beyond what's listed here.
Firebase Authentication, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Realtime Database, Firebase Cloud Messaging, and Google AdMob — used for sign-in, analytics, syncing your favourites/lists/preferences, push notifications, and advertising.
Meta Platforms, Inc.
Audience Network, one of the ad networks Google AdMob's mediation may use to show you ads. Meta may receive your advertising identifier for this purpose, subject to your ad tracking permission (see Advertising below).
03 — ADVERTISING & NOTIFICATIONS
Advertising
Half Price Deals is free to use and supported by advertising served through Google AdMob and its mediation partners, including Meta Audience Network. These networks may use device identifiers (such as your advertising id) and general usage data to select and personalise ads, in line with their own privacy policies. On iOS you'll be asked for tracking permission before this applies — you can decline at any time, and you can review or reset your ad identifier in your device's system settings. We don't sell your data, and don't share it beyond what these standard advertising networks collect directly.
Push Notifications
If you enable notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send price-drop alerts — weekly deal summaries, price drops on favourited products, or shopping list reminders. Turn any of these on or off any time in Notification Preferences; disabling one stops future messages of that type.
04 — YOUR CHOICES & CONTACT
Links to Retailer Websites
Tapping a product may take you to the retailer's own site to complete your purchase — we don't process payments or handle payment details ourselves. We don't currently earn a commission on outbound links. If that changes, this policy will be updated and the partnership disclosed before it goes live.
Data Retention & Deletion
Your favourites, shopping lists, and preferences remain stored against your anonymous device id for as long as you use the app. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in your device settings, ends that association on your end.
To request deletion of any data associated with your device, email hello@erronlabs.com.au with the subject "Data deletion request" and we'll confirm once it's removed. We don't yet have an in-app "delete my data" button — email is the fastest way to reach us for this today.
Children's Privacy
Half Price Deals is not directed at children. Because some retailers list alcohol products, the app asks you to confirm your age before showing that category — this confirmation is stored locally on your device only, and is not a general account age gate.
Your Australian Privacy Rights
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. Since we don't collect identifying information, there's very little tied to you to access or correct — mainly the anonymous id and whatever you've favourited. Email us to ask what's held against your device or to have it removed.
Changes to This Policy
We'll update this policy as the app changes — for example if we introduce a paid subscription or a new data practice. The "last updated" date below will move when we do, and material changes will be called out in the app's release notes.
